Cooking Baked Potatoes On Our Log Stove :)

Cooking Baked Potatoes On Our Log Stove :)
Ok … so it’s been a week of trying new things, and learning how to cook on a log stove. Casseroles, curries, soups … basically one pot recipes, have all been fantastic. My biggest problem has been remembering to keep the fire up to temperature (I’m always getting sidetracked).
I’ve learnt that cast iron pans with lids work best, and that popping some circular Aga pads on the lids, help to insulate the pots when cooking. Makes a big difference … 👍
I’ve also learnt that log stove cooking takes much longer. So get your stove up to temperature before you even begin. My best advice moving forward would be, plan your meals in advance. An absolute must, especially if you’re busy with lots of other jobs.
We also had a go at baked potatoes … luckily I had some stove top cast iron pans (potato cookers) in my pantry.
Just lightly oil the potatoes, and season with salt and pepper. I cut slices into ours, just to speed up the cooking time. Pop in the pan, close the lid and stand the pan on top of your stove. Bake for about 3 hrs for perfectly cooked jacket potatoes … yum.
I’d highly recommend giving it a go … 😃
