Starting Our Seed Potatoes … :)

Starting Our Seed Potatoes … :)
We’re sprouting / chitting our maincrop potatoes before planting, just to give them a bit of a head start. This year we’re trying egg boxes and are really happy with how things are going so far. It’s really easy, just arrange your seed potatoes in the egg boxes and make sure the eyes face upwards. Then leave them in a cool light place, that’s frost free (10 degrees ish), and wait for the sprouts to appear.
You’ll want to do this about 4 to 6 weeks before planting. I’m so impatient, I can’t wait to get them in the ground. It’s so nice to be thinking about the garden again … I love spring. 😃
